The New Zealand Breakers have strengthened their coaching staff for the upcoming Hungry Jack's NBL27 Season by appointing Quinn Clinton as an Assistant Coach. Clinton, who previously served as the Head Coach of the Canterbury Rams, has signed a one-year deal and will collaborate with newly appointed Head Coach Gordon Herbert. This strategic move aims to build a formidable team capable of capturing NBL silverware for New Zealand. Breakers President of Basketball Operations Dillon Boucher praised Clinton's elite basketball IQ and work ethic, highlighting his leadership qualities. Clinton was a standout player, leading the Junior Tall Blacks in scoring at the 2017 FIBA Under-19 World Cup and earning New Zealand’s Male Junior Player of the Year award. After a stint as a Development Player for the Breakers during the 2017-18 NBL season, he secured an NCAA Division I scholarship at Saint Mary's College of California. Following his return to New Zealand, Clinton played a pivotal role in the Canterbury Rams' championship victory in the 2023 Sal's NZNBL season before transitioning to coaching. He joins Matt Lacey on the coaching staff, who recently received the Basketball New Zealand’s 2025 Male Coach of the Year award for leading the Junior Tall Blacks to a historic fourth-place finish at the FIBA U19 World Cup. The Breakers are committed to investing in local talent, both on the court and on the bench, as they prepare for a competitive NBL season.
